Disassembly - Piston pin / Lower cylinder block

B2-71prose procedure

Piston pin (continued)

  1. 2
Use the following SSTs shown in the figure and a press.
    Line drawing of the special service tools (SSTs) used for piston pin removal: a guide sleeve, a base, supports and drift. Labelled with SST numbers 49 D011 002B, 49 L011 001, 49 E011 001, 49 E011 002 and 49 L011 006.
  2. 3
Insert the SST into the piston pin as shown.
    Line drawing showing the SST 49 L011 006 handle, 49 E011 002 and 49 E011 001 being inserted into the piston pin.
  3. 4
Verify that the SST fits squarely into the piston before pressing.
Line drawing verifying the SST 49 D011 002B fits squarely into the piston, set on the 49 L011 001 base before pressing.
  4. 5
Set the piston and connecting rod on the SST as shown.
Line drawing of the piston and connecting rod set on the SST under a press (downward arrow), labelled PISTON PIN, PISTON, CONNECTING ROD, with SST 49 E011 001 and 49 L011 001.
  5. 6
Press out the piston pin. While removing the piston pin, check the pressure. If it is lower than 4,903 N {500 kgf, 1,100 lbf}, replace the piston pin or connecting rod.

Lower cylinder block

  1. 1
Before removing the lower cylinder block, measure the crankshaft end play. (Refer to page B2-92.)
Line drawing of the engine block measuring crankshaft end play with a dial gauge, double-headed arrow showing axial direction, prior to removing the lower cylinder block.
