Replacement

Rear Oil Seal Replacement

    Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. 2
    Remove in the order shown in the figure, referring to Removal Note.
    Exploded view for rear oil seal replacement. Shows the transaxle (1, both MTX and ATX variants in side panels), clutch cover and clutch disc (2, MTX), flywheel (3, MTX), drive plate/backing plate/adapter (4, ATX), and oil seal (5, marked REPLACE). SST tools indicated at several joints. Torque values shown: clutch cover bolts 18-26 N·m {1.8-2.7 kgf·m, 14-19 ft-lbf}; flywheel/drive plate bolts 61-67 N·m {6.2-6.9 kgf·m, 45-49 ft-lbf}. Units note: N·m {kgf·m, ft-lbf}.

    Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to Installation Note.

Flywheel (MTX)

Flywheel (MTX) removal

  1. 1
    Hold the flywheel by using the SST.
    Drawing of the flywheel / drive plate face with bolt tightening sequence numbered 1 through 8 in a crossing pattern, using SST 49 E011 1A0 to hold the flywheel.

    Remove the flywheel mounting bolts.
  3. 3
    Remove the flywheel.

Drive plate (ATX)

Drive plate (ATX) removal

    Hold the drive plate by using the SST.
  2. 2
    Remove the lock bolts.
  3. 3
    Remove the backing plate, drive plate, and adapter.
