Inspect the following and repair or replace as necessary.
Inspection
- 1Timing belt (Refer to page B2-85.)
- 2Timing belt auto tensioner (Refer to page B2-85.)
- 3Timing belt pulley (Refer to page B2-85.)
- 4Camshaft pulleys (Refer to page B2-85.)
Installation Note
Timing belt auto tensioner
- 1Slowly press the tensioner rod into the tensioner body by using a press.Applying pressure of more than 9,807 N {1,000 kgf, 2,200 lbf} can damage the tensioner.

- 2Insert a pin into the second hole in the body as shown to hold the tensioner rod.Pin diameter: 1.6mm {0.063 in}

- 3Set the tensioner in place and snugly tighten the tensioner upper bolt.This must be done to reduce the timing belt resistance when the idler pulley is installed.

Timing belt
- 1Turn the camshaft pulleys clockwise and align the timing marks.
