DISASSEMBLY — Disassembly Note (Camshaft, HLA, Cylinder head bolt, Valve keeper)

Right cylinder head caps identified by numbers, left head by letters.

NOTE

Before removing the camshaft caps, note their locations. They are identified as follows; Right head: numbers; Left head: letters

Camshaft

Inspect the following when removing the camshaft.

Camshaft

Camshaft end play (Refer to page B2-79.)

Camshaft journal oil clearance (Refer to page B2-79.)

HLA

Remove the HLA from the cylinder head.
The HLA must be reinstalled in the same positions from which they were removed. If they are not, it can cause premature and uneven wear.
Mark the HLA to show their original positions.

Store the HLA upside down in an oil-filled container.

Cylinder head bolt

Loosen the cylinder head bolts in two or three steps in the order shown in the figure.

Remove the cylinder head bolts.

Valve keeper

Set the SST against the upper valve spring seat as shown.

Compress the spring and remove the valve keepers.
