ASSEMBLY — No.2 Idler Pulley / Timing Belt Auto Tensioner / Timing Belt

B2-108prose procedure

K8-ZE V6 — RH and LH camshaft pulleys, auto-tensioner timing belt system.

No.2 Idler Pulley

  1. 1
    Install the No.2 idler pulley to the cylinder block.
    Tightening torque: 38—51 N·m {3.8—5.3 kgf·m, 28—38 ft·lbf}
    Engine front showing the No.2 idler pulley installed on the cylinder block. An arrow points to the idler pulley.

Timing Belt Auto Tensioner

  1. 1
    Press in the tensioner rod slowly, using a press.
    Do not press the tensioner rod to more than 9,810 N {1,000 kgf, 2,200 lbf}. It will damage the tensioner.

  2. 2
    Insert a pin into the second hole in the body as shown to hold the tensioner rod.
    Pin diameter: 1.6 mm {0.063 in}
    Auto tensioner with a PIN inserted into the second hole in the body to hold the tensioner rod compressed.
  3. 3
    Set the tensioner in place and snugly tighten the tensioner upper bolt.
    This must be done to reduce the timing belt resistance when the idler pulley is installed.
    Tensioner set in place; an arrow points to the tensioner upper bolt being snugly tightened, with the timing belt routed around the pulleys.
  4. 4
    Install the tensioner pulley.
    Tightening torque: 38—44 N·m {3.8—4.5 kgf·m, 28—32 ft·lbf}

Timing Belt

  1. 1
    Turn the pulleys clockwise, and align the timing marks.
