Camshaft (continued)

  1. 9
    Install the distributor cap. (LH cylinder head)
    Tightening torque: 11.3—14.2 N·m {115—145 kgf·cm, 100—125 in·lbf}

    Apply clean engine oil to the lip of the new camshaft oil seal.
    Tapping the new camshaft oil seal in evenly using SST 49 F401 331 and 49 F401 337A over the camshaft end.

    Push the oil seal slightly in by hand.
  4. 12
    Tap the camshaft oil seal in evenly by using the SST and a hammer.
    Protrusion: 0—0.5mm {0—0.020 in}

Blind cap

  1. 11
    Tap in the new blind cap by using a plastic hammer.
    Step is printed as '11' on the page (manual numbering oddity).
    Tapping in the new blind cap at the rear of the camshaft using a plastic hammer.

Water outlet

  1. 1
    Install the water outlet with new O-rings.
    Tightening torque: 19—25 N·m {1.9—2.6 kgf·m, 14—18 ft·lbf}
    Water outlet installation on the engine front, fitted with new O-rings between the cylinder heads.

Seal Plate

  1. 1
    Install the seal plate.
    Tightening torque: 7.9—10.7 N·m {80—110 kgf·cm, 70—95.4 in·lbf}
    Seal plate installation at the engine front. Arrows point to the seal plate bolt locations.
