Bolt 5 of the camshaft cap fits only for the right cylinder head.

Camshaft pulley

  1. 1
    Hold the camshaft by using a wrench on the cast hexagon as shown, and loosen the camshaft pulley lock bolts.
    Camshaft and pulley area; a wrench engages the cast hexagon on the camshaft to hold it while loosening the camshaft pulley lock bolts.

    Remove the camshaft pulleys.

No.3 engine mount bracket

  1. 1
    Install the SST and support the engine.
    Engine bay with SST 49 G017 5A0 (engine support) installed over the engine to support it; label box reads '49 G017 5A0'.

    Disconnect the No.3 engine mount bracket from the engine mount rubber.

    Remove the No.3 engine mount bracket from the engine.

Camshaft cap and oil seal

Perform this same procedure for the right and left cylinder heads.

    Turn the camshaft clockwise by using a wrench on the cast hexagon and align the camshaft knock pin and cylinder head marks as shown.

    Loosen the front camshaft cap bolts in five or six steps in the order shown.
    Bolt 5 fits only for right cylinder head.

    Remove the front camshaft cap.
