AIR CONDITIONER — Condenser Fan

Inspection procedures differ by engine: K8 (1.8L V6) condenser fan has a 4-pin connector with low/high speed; B6 (1.6L I4) has a 2-pin connector (terminals A/B).

CONDENSER FAN

Removal / Installation

    Remove the fresh-air duct.
  2. 2
    Remove the upper seal board.
  3. 3
    Disconnect the condenser fan connector.
  4. 4
    Remove the condenser fan as shown in the figure.

    Install in the reverse order of removal.

Inspection — K8

  1. 1
    Disconnect the condenser fan connector.
    K8 condenser fan connector test diagrams. Top (TURN AT LOW SPEED): battery positive to terminal C and ground to terminal D. Bottom (TURN AT HIGH SPEED): battery to terminals A and C, ground to terminals B and D. Terminals A, B, C, D are labelled on the 4-pin connector.

    Connect battery positive voltage and check the operation of the condenser fan.

  3. 3
    If not as specified, replace the condenser fan.

Inspection — B6

  1. 1
    Disconnect the condenser fan connector.
    B6 condenser fan connector test diagram. Battery positive voltage to terminal A and terminal B to ground on the 2-pin condenser fan connector.
  2. 2
    Connect battery positive voltage to terminal A and connect terminal B to ground. Verify that the condenser fan operates.
  3. 3
    If the condenser fan does not operate, replace it.
