G-26prose procedureIgnition coil inspection for B6 DOHC engine. Coil is integral with the distributor.
Inspection
Check the following points. If a problem is found, replace the spark plug.
• Damaged insulation
• Worn electrodes
• Carbon deposits (If cleaning is necessary, use a plug cleaner or a wire brush. Clean the upper insulator also.)
• Damaged gasket
• Burnt condition

IGNITION COIL
Inspection (B6 DOHC)
Primary coil winding
- 1Disconnect the 3-pin connector from the distributor.
- 2Use an ohmmeter and measure resistance of the primary coil winding.

- 3If not within the specification, replace the distributor.

Secondary coil winding
- 1Disconnect the 3-pin connector from the distributor.
- 2Remove the distributor cap.
- 3Use an ohmmeter and measure resistance of the secondary coil winding.

- 4If not within the specification, replace the distributor.

Replacement
- 1Replace the distributor. (Refer to page G-29.)
