B6 DOHC engine. Idle speed differs MTX (Neutral) vs ATX (P range).

B6 DOHC

  1. 1
    Connect a tachometer to the data link connector terminal IG-. Connect a timing light as shown.

    Connect the data link connector terminals TEN and GND with a jumper wire.

    Check the idle speed.
  4. 4
    If necessary, adjust the idle speed. (Refer to section F1.)

    Check the ignition timing.

    If the ignition timing is not as specified, loosen the distributor lock bolts and turn the distributor to make the adjustment.

    Tighten the distributor lock bolts to the specified torque.
  8. 8
    Disconnect a jumper wire.
  9. 9
    Check if the timing mark (yellow) on the crankshaft pulley and the mark on the timing belt cover are aligned.

Removal / Installation

Inspection

  1. 1
    Measure resistance of the high-tension leads.
    Ohmmeter (analog multimeter) connected via test leads to a high-tension lead to measure its resistance.
