CHARGING SYSTEM — Drive Belt Adjustment

Separate belt adjustment procedures and torques for B6 DOHC (mounting/adjusting bolt) and K8 DOHC (tensioner lock nut + adjuster bolt).

B6 DOHC Adjustment

  1. 1
    Loosen the generator mounting bolt and adjusting bolt.
  2. 2
    Tighten the generator adjusting bolt.
    B6 DOHC generator and belt area with an arrow pointing to the generator adjusting bolt location.
  3. 3
    Tighten the generator mounting bolts and recheck the tension.
    Tightening torque — Mounting bolt: 38—51 N·m {3.8—5.3 kgf·m, 28—38 ft·lbf}
  4. 4
    If adjustment is not possible, replace the drive belt. (Refer to section B1.)

K8 DOHC

K8 DOHC Adjustment

  1. 1
    Loosen tensioner lock nut (A).
    K8 (with A/C) belt routing diagram identifying the tensioner, generator, drive pulley and A/C pulley. Tensioner lock nut marked A and adjuster bolt marked B.
  2. 2
    Tighten adjuster bolt (B).
  3. 3
    Tighten tensioner lock nut (A).
    Tightening torque — (A): 32—46 N·m {3.2—4.7 kgf·m, 24—33 ft·lbf}
  4. 4
    If adjustment is not possible, replace the drive belt. (Refer to section B2.)
