A/C COMPRESSOR — Removal / Installation
G-54prose procedureDrive belt removal differs between K8 (V6) and B6 (I4) engines. K8 uses idle pulley locknut + adjusting bolt; B6 uses bolts A/B/C and adjusting bolt D.
Removal / Installation
A/C Compressor Removal / Installation
- 1Discharge the refrigerant from the system.
- 2Remove the drive belt as follows. K8: 1) Loosen the idle pulley locknut. 2) Loosen the adjusting bolt and remove the drive belt. B6: 1) Loosen bolt A. 2) Loosen nut C. 3) Loosen nut B. 4) Loosen adjusting bolt D and remove the drive belt.

- 3Remove the lower cover.

- 4Disconnect the hoses from the A/C compressor.

- 5Remove the bolts and remove the A/C compressor.
- 6Install in the reverse order of removal. When replacing the A/C compressor with a new one, remove the following amount of compressor oil from the new A/C compressor. Removed oil amount cm3 {cc, fl oz} = 175 {175, 5.92} - [oil from old A/C compressor + 15(+5/-0) {15(+5/-0), 0.5(+0.2/-0)}]
- 7Adjust the drive belt deflection as follows. K8: 1) Loosen the locknut. 2) Turn the adjusting bolt to adjust the drive belt deflection to specification. 3) Tighten the locknut.Tightening torque: 32-46 N.m {3.2-4.7 kgf.m, 24-33 ft.lbf}
