TROUBLESHOOTING

G-20prose procedure

K8 and B6 engines have different voltage thresholds for the Step 8 heater control unit (G) terminal check (K8: 1.5—3.5 / 4.5—5.5; B6: Below 2.5 / B+).

Step 8

  1. 1
Verify that the ignition switch and fan switch are on.
  2. 2
Measure the voltage at the (G) terminal wire of the heater control unit connector.
    B+: Battery positive voltage
Heater control unit connector, LOGIC TYPE and WIRE TYPE views, with (G) terminal callout pointed out on both the multi-pin logic connector and the 2-pin wire connector.

Step 10

  1. 1
Remove the glove compartment and glove compartment cover. (Refer to the 1995 MX-3 Workshop Manual, section S.)
Underdash harness/connector area showing the (G) terminal location near the heater unit, with wiring harness routing.
  2. 2

Step 11

  1. 1
Measure the voltage at the (B/R) terminal wire of the refrigerant pressure switch connector.
    B+: Battery positive voltage
Refrigerant pressure switch connector with a voltmeter connected to the (B/R) terminal wire, voltmeter probe routed to ground.

Step 12

  1. 1
    Disconnect the thermoswitch connector.
Thermoswitch connector location and continuity check between terminals A and B, with a meter and an inset detail showing terminals A and B on the connector.
  2. 2
Check for continuity between terminals A and B of the thermoswitch.
