ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR (FRONT)

Removal / Inspection / Installation

    Jack up the vehicle and support it on safety stands.
  2. 2
    Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  3. 3
    Remove in the order shown in the figure.
    Exploded/installation view of the front ABS wheel-speed sensor on the front suspension/knuckle assembly. Numbered callouts: (1) connector with magnified inset showing routing, (2) clips along the harness, (3) bolt mounting the sensor, (4) ABS wheel-speed sensor at the hub. Tightening torque marked 19–25 {1.9–2.6, 14–18} for the bolt. Units note N·m {kgf·m, ft·lbf}.

    Install in the reverse order of the removal.
  5. 5
    Install the wheel and tire assembly.
  6. 6
    Verify whether the diagnostic trouble code is canceled. (Refer to page P-56.)

Inspection

  1. 1
    Check resistance at the ABS wheel-speed sensor terminals.
    Illustration of an ohmmeter/multimeter connected to the ABS wheel-speed sensor connector to measure resistance across the sensor terminals.
  2. 2
    If not as specified, replace the ABS wheel-speed sensor.
