Inspection

Check for the following and repair or replace parts as necessary.

Disc pad assembly

    Oil or grease on facing

    Abnormal wear or cracks

    Deterioration or damage by heat

    Remaining lining thickness
    A hand using a scale/vernier to measure the remaining lining thickness of a disc pad assembly.

Measure the thickness of the disc plate.

Disc plate runout

  1. 1
    Verify that there is no wheel bearing looseness. (Refer to section M.)
  2. 2
    Measure the runout at the outer edge of the contact surface of the disc pad.
    A dial indicator mounted to measure runout at the outer edge of the rear disc plate (rotor) on the vehicle.
