STEP 1: Does throttle position sensor circuit have a poor connection?
Yes
Repair or replace connector
No

STEP 2: Is ECM terminal 2F voltage OK? (see page F2-37)
Yes
STEP 3: Is voltage increase linear according to the throttle valve opening angle?
No

STEP 4: Disconnect throttle position sensor connector. Turn ignition switch to ON. Is there 5V at connector terminal A?
No
Check for open or short circuit in wiring harness. (ECM terminal 2I–throttle sensor terminal A)
Yes

STEP 5: Is there continuity between connector terminal D and ECM terminal 2F?
No
Replace or replace wiring harness
Yes

STEP 6: Is there continuity between connector terminal D and ECM terminal 3D?
No
Repair or replace wiring harness
Yes
Replace throttle position sensor
