FUEL INJECTOR - Inspection

F2-117prose procedure

Injector resistance terminal mapping is for the V6 (K8-ZE) with right and left banks.

Inspection

Fuel injector resistance

  1. 1
Disconnect the fuel injector connectors as shown in the figure.
Engine bay drawing showing the fuel injector connectors at the right and left banks. Callouts: RIGHT BANK SIDE, FROM LEFT BANK SIDE.
  2. 2
Measure the resistance of the fuel injector with an ohmmeter.
    Top view of the V6 engine showing injector positions No.1, No.3, No.5 (right bank) and No.2, No.4, No.6 (left bank), with enlarged insets of the right-bank connector (terminals c, a, d, b) and left-bank connector (terminals d, c, b, a).
  3. 3
If not as specified, check the connectors for continuity and poor connection.
  4. 4
If the harness is OK, replace the fuel injector.

Fuel leakage test

  1. 1
Remove the fuel injector together with fuel distributor from intake manifold as shown in figure.
  2. 2
Connect the fuel hose and fuel return hose.
Engine bay drawing showing the fuel main hose and fuel return hose installed for the leakage test. Callouts: FUEL MAIN HOSE, FUEL RETURN HOSE.
  3. 3
Connect the data link connector terminals F/P and GND by using a jumper wire.
Two diagrams: left shows the data link connector terminal layout with GND and F/P jumpered; right shows a jumper wire installed on the data link connector. Callouts: GND, F/P, JUMPER WIRE, DATA LINK CONNECTOR.
  4. 4
Turn the ignition switch to ON and check for fuel leaks from the fuel injector.
  5. 5
If not as specified, check the fuel injector O-ring and fuel distributor contact face.
Cross-section drawing of the fuel injector seated in the fuel distributor. An arrow points to a LEAK location at the injector O-ring seal. Callouts: FUEL INJECTOR, LEAK, FUEL DISTRIBUTOR.
  6. 6
    Install the fuel injector.
  7. 7
Turn the ignition switch to ON and check for fuel leaks from the fuel injector.
  8. 8
If not as specified, replace the fuel injector.
