Knock Sensor Removal / Installation

    Remove in the order shown in the figure, referring to Removal Note.
    Exploded view of the intake manifold area for knock sensor removal/installation. Numbered balloons 1-5 identify components: 1 air hose, 2 intake manifold, 3 bypass pipe, 4 water pipe, 5 knock sensor. Tightening-torque callouts shown at several bolt locations; O-rings and gasket marked REPLACE. Bolts labeled A. The knock sensor (5) is marked with an SST callout.

    Inspect the fuel tank components visually and repair or replace as necessary.
  3. 3
    Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to Installation Note.

Removal / Installation Note - Engine coolant

    Drain the engine coolant into a container before removing the intake manifold.
  2. 2
    Use the SST to remove / install the knock sensor.
    SST (49 H018 001) being used to remove/install the knock sensor on the engine block. The tool is shown engaged with the sensor.
