System Operation

  1. 1
    Connect a tachometer to the data link connector IG- terminal.

    Connect the SSTs (Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter) to the ECM (Refer to page F2-141.)
    Hookup of the ECM to the Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter via the special service tools, with the battery. SSTs labelled: 49 T018 902, 49 9200 162A, 49 G018 906, 49 D088 008. ECM labelled at lower left.

    Warm-up the engine to normal operating temperature and run it at idle.
  4. 4
    Set the SST to terminal 3U to 3Z and make sure the green and red lights flash alternately.

    Increase the engine speed to 4,000 rpm; then suddenly release the throttle.

    Verify that the red indicator light illuminates while the engine speed is above approximately 1,200 rpm (MTX), 1,500 rpm (ATX) on deceleration.

    Increase the engine speed and verify that the maximum rpm does not exceed specification.
