VRIS SHUTTER VALVE ACTUATOR No.1 AND No.2

Inspection

VRIS Shutter Valve Actuator No.1 and No.2 Inspection

  1. 1
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the shutter valve actuator.
Engine bay view showing a vacuum pump tester connected to the VRIS shutter valve actuator. An arrow points to the actuator rod / vacuum hose connection. Labeled 'VACUUM PUMP TESTER'.
  2. 2
Connect a vacuum pump tester to the actuator.
  3. 3
Apply vacuum and verify that the rod is pulled into the actuator.
Second engine bay view of the vacuum pump tester connected to the VRIS shutter valve actuator with an arrow indicating the connection point. Labeled 'VACUUM PUMP TESTER'.

VRIS SOLENOID VALVE No.1 AND No.2

Inspection

VRIS Solenoid Valve No.1 and No.2 Inspection

  1. 1
    Disconnect the solenoid valve.
VRIS solenoid valve drawing with three ports labeled A, B, and C (circled). Used for the air-flow inspection between ports A-B, A-C, B-C.
  2. 2
Verify that air flows between each port as below.
  3. 3
Connect battery positive voltage and a ground to the terminals of the solenoid valve.
VRIS solenoid valve drawing with ports A, B, C and battery connected to the solenoid terminals (battery shown with - and + terminals). Used for the energized air-flow inspection.
  4. 4
Verify that air flows between each port as below.

CHECK VALVE

Inspection

Check Valve Inspection

  1. 1
    Remove the check valve.
Check valve cutaway/drawing with port A (left) and port B (right). The white side is labeled 'WHITE' (port A) and the green side 'GREEN' (port B).
  2. 2
Blow through A and verify that air flows from B.
  3. 3
