Inspection

Operation check

Listen for operational sound of the fuel pump relay while starter operating.

Continuity inspection

Main Relay Continuity inspection

  1. 1
    Check continuity between the terminals by using an ohmmeter.
    Main relay connector terminal layout (terminals A, B, C, D) on the left, with an internal circuit schematic on the right showing a coil between C and D and a diode between A and B.
  2. 2
    Replace the main relay if necessary.

Main Relay Continuity (B+: Battery positive voltage)

P/S PRESSURE SWITCH

Inspection

P/S Pressure Switch Inspection

  1. 1
    Disconnect the P/S pressure switch connector.
  2. 2
    Start the engine, and check continuity of the switch by using an ohmmeter.
    P/S pressure switch with an ohmmeter connected to its terminals and to ground, showing measurement setup.
  3. 3
    Replace the P/S pressure switch if not as specified.

CLUTCH SWITCH

Inspection

Clutch Switch Inspection

  1. 1
    Disconnect the clutch switch connector.
  2. 2
    Connect the ohmmeter to the switch.
    Clutch pedal area with the clutch switch and an ohmmeter connected; an arrow indicates pedal movement during continuity check.
  3. 3
    Check continuity of the switch.
  4. 4
    If not as specified, replace the clutch switch.

Clutch Switch Replacement

  1. 1
    Loosen the nuts and remove the clutch switch.
    Clutch pedal assembly with the clutch switch removed/exploded, illustrating the replacement procedure.
  2. 2
    Install the clutch switch.
  3. 3
    Adjust the clutch pedal height. (Refer to section H.)
  4. 4
    Tighten the nuts to the specified torque.
