HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (Right bank, Left bank)

F2-154prose procedure

Right bank / left bank heated oxygen sensors selected via brake pedal state during monitoring (V6 K8 engine).

CONTROL SYSTEM

HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (Right bank, Left bank)

Inspection

Heated Oxygen Sensor Inspection

  1. 1
Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and run it at idle.
  2. 2
Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
Heated oxygen sensor (left bank) with a voltmeter connected between the sensor connector and ground. Connector terminals labeled A, B, C, D.
  3. 3
Connect a voltmeter between the heated oxygen sensor and a ground.
  4. 4
Run the engine at 4,500 rpm until voltmeter indicates approx. 0.7V.
Analog voltmeter face showing a needle near 0.45 V with a scale from 0 to 1, illustrating the expected reading during the oxygen sensor measurement.
  5. 5
Measure the voltage while increasing and decreasing the engine speed suddenly several times.

Heated Oxygen Sensor Inspection (continued)

  1. 6
Connect the SSTs (System Selector and Self-Diagnosis Checker) to the data link connector as shown.
Engine-bay view showing the SSTs (System Selector and Self-Diagnosis Checker) connected to the data link connector. Two tool boxes are labeled with their part numbers.
  2. 7
Set switch A to position 1.
  3. 8
Set TEST SW to O2 MONITOR.
  4. 9
Increase the engine speed to 2,000-3,000 rpm, and verify that the monitor light flashes for 10 sec. If not as specified, replace the heated oxygen sensor.
With the brake pedal depressed, the monitor lamp shows operation of the right heated oxygen sensor.
With the brake pedal released, the monitor lamp shows operation of the left heated oxygen sensor.

Heater

Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Inspection

  1. 1
Measure resistance between terminals C and D of the heater connector.
Heated oxygen sensor (left bank) heater connector with an ohmmeter connected to measure resistance between terminals C and D. Connector terminals labeled A, B, C, D.
  2. 2
Replace the heater if not as specified.
