Webbing inspection

    Inspect the webbing for scars, tears, and wear.

    Inspect the fittings for deformation.

    If a problem is found, replace the seat belt assembly.

    Verify that the belt can be pulled out smoothly, and that it moves smoothly when worn.
  2. 2
    Verify that the retractor locks when the belt is quickly pulled.
  3. 3
    Remove the retractor.
  4. 4
    Hold the retractor as it would be installed.
    FRONT retractor lock test. A hand holds the front retractor inclined to a vertical reference line; the angle between the belt direction and vertical is marked 30°, the inclination at which the retractor should lock.

    Slowly incline the retractor while pulling out the belt.
  6. 6
    Verify that the retractor locks at approximately 30 degrees inclination.
  7. 7
    If not as specified, replace the seat belt assembly.
