Removal / Installation

    Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    Remove in the order shown in the figure. To remove the liftgate hinges, remove the headliner. (Refer to page S-70.)
    Exploded view of the liftgate (rear hatch) assembly shown opened on the rear of the vehicle. Numbered balloon callouts 1-7 mark the liftgate side trim, upper trim, lower trim, rear washer pipe, stay damper, liftgate panel and liftgate hinge. Torque values are called out: 18-21 N·m {1.8-2.2 kgf-m, 14-15 ft-lbf} at the hinge bolts and 18-29 N·m {1.8-3.0 kgf-m, 14-21 ft-lbf} at another fastener. Units note at bottom right: N·m {kgf-m, ft-lbf}.

    Install in the reverse order of removal.
