TRANSAXLE — Bearing preload verification (differential, primary, secondary)
J2-41prose procedureBearing preload verification specs differ per shaft: differential 1.4-1.9 N·m, primary 0.1-0.2 N·m, secondary 0.2-0.4 N·m
Bearing preload verification (continued)
- 3Install the SST to the differential.

- 4Connect a torque wrench to the SST and measure the preload.
- 5Remove the SST.
- 6With the transaxle facing in the direction shown in the figure, install the SST to the primary shaft gear assembly.

- 7Connect a torque wrench to the SST and measure the preload.
- 8Remove the SST, transaxle case, primary shaft gear assembly and differential.
- 9Install the secondary shaft gear assembly and transaxle case, and tighten to the specified torque.
- 10Install the SST to the secondary shaft gear assembly.

- 11Connect a torque wrench to the SST and measure the preload.
