TRANSAXLE — Assembly notes (bearing races, oil seals, boot, bearing preload)

Boot must be installed with drain hole facing downward when mounted on the vehicle

Bearing race (transaxle case)

    Install the adjustment shim(s) to the primary and secondary shaft bearing seats in the transaxle case.
    Installing a bearing race into the transaxle case using a suitable pipe and a hammer.
  2. 2
    Apply transaxle oil to each bearing race, and install them to the transaxle case by using a suitable pipe.

Oil seal (change rod assembly)

  1. 1
    Install the new oil seal by using a suitable pipe.
    Installing the new oil seal for the change rod assembly using a suitable pipe; hand holds the pipe against the seal bore.
  2. 2
    Coat the lip of the oil seal with transaxle oil.

Boot

Install the boot so that the drain hole is facing downward when mounted on the vehicle.

Oil seal (primary shaft)

Apply transaxle oil to the outer circumference of the oil seal, and install it to the transaxle case by using a suitable pipe.

Bearing preload

Verify the shaft gears and the differential bearing preloads. Readjust the bearing preloads if they are not within specification.

    Set the primary shaft gear assembly and the differential into the clutch housing.
    Setting the primary shaft gear assembly and differential into the clutch housing to verify bearing preload.
  2. 2
    Install the transaxle case, and tighten to the specified torque.

38 - 51N·m
