3. Outer box assembly

  1. 1
    Apply grease to a U-gasket and new O-ring.
    Two side-by-side views of installing the U-gasket and O-ring into the outer box using SSTs 49 B032 313 and 49 B032 307.
  2. 2
    Install the U-gasket and O-ring into the outer box.

4. Cylinder air-tightness check

  1. 1
    Install the SSTs to the cylinder part of the gear housing.
    Cylinder air-tightness check with a vacuum pump and gauge connected via SSTs 49 G032 317 and 49 B032 321 to the cylinder part of the gear housing.
  2. 2
    Using a vacuum pump, apply a vacuum of 400 mmHg and check to be sure that the vacuum is maintained for 30 seconds.
  3. 3
    If there is any leakage, replace the oil seal.

5. Oil seal and bearing (Upper, Lower)

  1. 1
    Use the SSTs to install a new oil seal and bearing (Upper) to the gear housing.
    Installing a new oil seal and bearing (Upper) to the gear housing using SSTs 49 G030 797, 49 B032 309 and 49 B032 310.

    Apply grease to the oil seal.
  3. 3
    Install the bearing (Lower).

6. Pinion shaft assembly and seal ring

  1. 1
    Use the SST to install a new seal ring to the valve part of the pinion shaft.
    Two side-by-side views of installing a new seal ring to the valve part of the pinion shaft using SSTs 49 B032 312 and 49 B032 314.
  2. 2
    After installing it, use the SSTs to seat it properly.
  3. 3
    Use the SST to install the pinion shaft assembly to the gear housing.
