Removal / Inspection / Installation

    Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it with safety stands.

    Remove the wheels.
  3. 3
    Remove in the order shown in the figure, referring to Removal Note.
    Exploded view of the rear crossmember assembly with attached lateral links (front and rear), performance rod, rear stabilizer, brake pipe and rear hub/knuckle. Numbered balloon callouts 1-6 with torque values. Torque callouts: (1) brake pipe (SST) 12.8-21.5 N·m {130-220 kgf·cm, 113-190 in·lbf}; 6.9-15.6 N·m {70-160 kgf·cm, 61-138 in·lbf}; (3) 68-95 N·m {6.9-9.7, 50-70}; (5) 47-62 N·m {4.7-6.4, 34-46}; (4) 44-58 N·m {4.4-6.0, 32-43}; 86-116 N·m {8.7-11.9, 63-86}. Torque legend N·m {kgf·m, in·lbf} bottom-right.

    Visually inspect each part and replace as necessary.

    Install in the reverse order of the removal, referring to Installation Note.

    Loosely tighten the stabilizer bracket, lateral link and performance rod bolts and nuts. Tighten all other bolts and nuts to the specified torque.

    Bleed the air from the Brake System. (Refer to section P.)

    Install the wheels. (Tightening torque: 89-117 N·m {9.0-12.0 kgf·m, 66-86 ft·lbf})

    Lower the vehicle.
  10. 10
    With the vehicle unloaded, tighten the stabilizer bracket, lateral link and performance rod bolts to the specified torque.
  11. 11
    After installation, measure the rear wheel alignment, and adjust it, if necessary. (Refer to page R-9.)
