Removal / Inspection / Installation

    Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with safety stands.

    Remove the wheels.
  3. 3
    Remove the undercover.
  4. 4
    Remove in the order shown in the figure, referring to Removal Note.
    Large exploded view of the front crossmember assembly including lower arm, stabilizer bar/brackets/bushings, steering gear and linkage, engine mounting member, and crossmember. Numbered balloon callouts 1-16 with tightening-torque tags in N·m {kgf·m, ft·lbf}. SST markers on items 1 and 3; GASKET/NUT/REPLACE notes. Two lower inset detail views labeled 'B6DOHC' show the steering gear (item 7) and the front exhaust pipe/gasket (item 4) variants for the B6 DOHC engine.

    Visually inspect each part and replace as necessary.

    Install in the reverse order of removal.

    Loosely tighten the lower arm bolts and the stabilizer bracket bolts. Tighten all other nuts and bolts to the specified torques.

    Install the wheels. (Tightening torque: 89-117 N·m {9.0-12.0 kgf·m, 66-86 ft·lbf})

    Lower the vehicle.
  10. 10
    With the vehicle unloaded, tighten the lower arm bolts and the stabilizer bracket bolts to the specified torque.

    Adjust the front wheel alignment. (Refer to page R-7.)

    Bleed the air from the power steering system. (Refer to section N.)
