FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER AND SPRING

Removal / Installation

  1. 1
    Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
  2. 2
    Remove the wheels.
  3. 3
    Remove in the order shown in the figure.
    Exploded view of the front shock absorber and spring assembly mounted at the front strut tower and steering knuckle. Numbered balloon callouts 1-6 identify clip, nuts, bolts and the shock absorber/spring. Tightening-torque tags shown: 47-62 {4.7-6.4, 34-46} at the upper mounting nuts (4), and 103-126 {10.5-12.9, 76-93} at the lower knuckle nuts (2). Torque unit legend bottom-right: N·m {kgf·m, ft·lbf}.

    Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to Installation Note.
  5. 5
    Install the wheels. (Tightening torque: 89—117 N·m {9.0—12.0 kgf·m, 66—86 ft·lbf})
  6. 6
    After installation, measure the front wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary. (Refer to page R-7.)

Installation Note

Front shock absorber and spring

Face the direction indicator of the mounting block inboard, and install the shock absorber and spring.
